It’s not just any celebration card but a birthday pocket card with a buckle! Some clever die-cutting creates these amazing pocket cards!
Stampin’ Up! debuted the new 2023-2024 annual catalog a few weeks ago and it’s loaded with new card making products! Among it all are some incredible dies that you can use in creative ways! Let me teach you a fun fold card that’s both fun and easy.

Create this handmade card for birthday parties and gift giving. Not only does these pocket cards provide a space for a tucked in note, but you can add a gift card, too!

Birthday Pocket Card | Little Monkey
If you haven’t added the Basic Borders Dies to your wish list, I think today’s card will convince you!
The buckle is a separate piece of cardstock that was rounded to mimic the border dies. The Stylish Shapes Dies is my most often used die sets because it includes various layered sizes and shapes.
Take a Look at the Inside!
Stampin’ Blends alcohol-based markers provide flawless, streak free coverage. Small areas, like the monkey, don’t require shading.
I used self-adhesive, small magnetic discs to create the latch for my buckle closures. You’ll find these magnetic discs linked for you in my Craft Room Favorites HERE under the section “YouTube Featured Favorites”. The package includes two sizes, perfect for various size cards.
The interior magnet is hidden under the leaves. These magnets are strong enough to connect through a layer of cardstock! Slip in your handwritten message on the pull out card and add a gift card. There’s plenty of room for both!
Birthday Pocket Card | Cheerful Daisies
While it’s tempting to add more to designer paper, gorgeous papers like these don’t need much!
Unlike my other cards, I used the coordinating Cheerful Daisy dies to make a simple layered flower. The ‘rock and roll’ technique brings the leaves a pretty two-tone look. CLICK HERE to learn how the ‘rock and roll’ technique.
When designer paper is as pretty as this, simple baker’s Twine adds a small amount of texture without taking away from this beautiful paper.
I think we can all agree, coordinating stamps and dies make creating easy.
Petal Park
If you love border dies, don’t overlook the Around the Bend Dies. The details in these borders create detail edges in seconds.
Use the Petal Park Builder Punch in conjunction with the Petal Park stamp set for perfect blooms without cutting.
Simple backgrounds can be created using images from the same stamp set. I used the small flower image with Balmy Blue ink on Balmy Blue cardstock. The color coordination with Stampin’ Up! is second to none.
This card provides another perfect pocket for your handwritten notes or sentiment stamps!

Hi Lisa,
You are one talented lady! As a former trainer and instructor, I especially appreciate your teaching skills. Your cards are clever and your instructions are easy to follow. Thank you!
One last comment..I really like your new hairstyle and color.
Again, thanks for sharing.
Cheryl H.
Cheryl thank you so much for your sweet comments!! Happy to have you watch!! Thank you!!
Love the cards, especially the monkeys! Just thought it was worth mentioning that the use of a magnet closure could possibly make the magnetic strip on the gift card defective (unusable; erases data), especially if the gift card is stored underneath where the magnetic closure is positioned. Maybe consider using Velcro dot closure as an alternative.
Margaret happy you like the cards!! So far I have not had an issue with these tiny magnets! Velcro is a great idea! Thank you for viewing!
I watched the replay and could not find the project sheet. Would you please help me locate the project sheet because I am very excited to make the monkey card.
Thank you,
Cathy Cieslak
