This double flap card is perfect when you need additional space for images or sentiments. Today’s card making ideas include a Christmas card, a get well card and a miss you card. All three fun fold card ideas include variations that can be used all year long for any occasion.

Double flap cards are essentially “a card on a card”. The trick to this idea is the placement of the ribbon closure. Whether rubber stamping your handmade cards or using designer papers and simple greetings, you’re going to love the versatility of this fold!

Double Flap Fun Fold Card | Trucking Along

There’s a new bundle in the Online Exclusive product line called Trucking Along. I’ll confess now, the Bundle is currently unavailable while a new inventory of punches arrives. These are due into the Stampin’ Up! warehouse mid-October. Naturally, I designed this card before I knew the product would temporarily sell out. The good news is you now have a fantastic idea when you order your Bundle!

This two-step step allows you to stamp the outline image and use any coloring medium or stamp to ‘fill’ the image using the coordinating solid stamp. Quick and easy!

The bed images in this stamp set vary so you can use the set all year long. Just think of the cute things you could add as cargo!

Double Flap Inside View

The beauty of this double flap is that you have additional space for adding images and sentiments. I used the Stampin’ Blends Markers to color this image but there’s also a coordinating “fill” image if you’re looking for a quicker option.

double front card

The trick to this fun fold is the positioning of the ribbon so be sure to watch the video!

Once the double flap is opened, the inside of the card is revealed allowing for even more space.

Unlike the image on the front of this card, this one used the coordinating punch. Since the punch only punches out the truck, I used a pencil to mark where the bed of the truck would be adhered and marked it with a light pencil line allowing me to stamp so it’s perfectly aligned.

I’m always asked, “Can it stand up for display?” and the answer is yes! This layout is both easy and intriguing.

Double Flap Fun Fold Card | Apple Harvest

I learned that apples come in a variety of colors. I’m more of a McIntosh fan, I couldn’t resist the idea of a Granny Smith apple to coordinate with the Glorious Gingham Designer Paper.

get well card

I colored the apples using the Stampin’ Blends Markers. The center of the apple was easy to color using the Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends and then adding the Color Lifter to fade out areas for realism.

The variety of apple images in this set provide perfect coordination to the inside of this double flap.

Save those small strips of designer paper! They are perfect to use on the inside of your card and provide fantastic coordination.

miss you card

Tie it all together using the Black & White Gingham Ribbon for a fun country feel that’s perfect all year long!

Just My Type

A combination of stamp sets were used for this card to include Rays of Light and Good Feelings. Mix and match using the stamps you own and expound on those purchases. You’ll be surprised at how many work well together.

rainbow card

I used a Blending Brush to add subtle color around the front layer of the greeting. It allows the black text to stand out while coordinating to the layer underneath.

handmade cards

I stamped the small rainbow image repeatedly along the flap layer and used Stampin’ Blends Markers to color them in.

Double Flap Fun Fold

I carried over the same blending from the front to the inside double flap by using the residual ink on my blending brush. This allowed for a lighter shade but there’s still continuity between the sections of this card.

And more blending! Blending Brushes come in two sizes so you can choose the right brush head for your project. Check them out in my online store!
