Take a simple card layout and turn it into an incredible card making experience. A card sketch, aka “card layout”, is a map on where to place the pieces of your cardstock or designer paper to making creating easy.
Not only are today’s projects easy card making ideas but they’ll provide beginner and experienced stampers alike an opportunity to use scraps of designer paper for an array of occasions. Whether creating a Halloween card, autumn cards or birthday cards, you’re going to love the ease of this layout!

Simple Card Layout | Bag of Bones
Every year I create handmade Halloween cards for my three great nephews. This year they’ll all receive various cards using the Bag of Bones Bundle (stamp set + coordinating dies).
The dies are an absolute must! In addition to creating an array of limbs to position dance moves and character, you can adorn them with hats, fences and much more!
Use up those scraps of designer paper and create 1″ circles for this layout. How far you space them apart is entirely up to you so get creative. Want bigger circles? Give it a try by making two rows. And while you’re at it, try other spaces!
Simple Card Layout | Autumn Leaves
Fall is favorite season because of the rich tones and changing temperatures. Even here in Florida, we look forward to September and drag out all our fall decor and pretend it’s 70 degrees!
The Autumn Leaves Bundle allows for stamping and die cutting but also affords the ability to die cut detailed leaves with veins. It’s an incredible Bundle and one I’m certain will be at the top of your wish list.
I used the “direct to paper” technique for the leaves to provide added texture and color variations. Be sure to watch the video where I provide a quick demonstration.
Simple Card Layout | Modern Garden
The Modern Garden stamp set offers coordinating designer paper called Garden Walk. The colors are cheerful and varied.
Modern Garden is also offered as a Bundle with a label punch so be sure to check out the options in my online store.
I stamped the flower and used my Paper Snips to cut it out and adhered it behind the embossed greeting. There’s something special about white embossing powder on dark cardstock, isn’t there?
