Save those scrap designer paper pieces! They’ll be put to good use with today’s stair stepper card. These fun fold card ideas are perfect all year-long but I know you’re going to love these Christmas cardmaking ideas.
Stampin’ Up! designer paper patterns include double-sided choices. One side of the paper includes a theme while the other side is vastly non-themed which is great to use on all types of DIY cards and crafts. Don’t forget to download the free project sheet for all three holiday card ideas.

Scrap Designer Paper | Gift of Giving
Would you believe that this peppermint candy stripe is part of the Garden Walk Designer Series Paper package? Stampin’ Up!’s double-sided patterns expound on your purchases and provide lots of possibilities.
The diamond feature of the images gives this card extra pizzazz when displayed and fits inside an A2 envelope perfectly!
Check out the Sparkle!
While photographs rarely do a card justice, I had to share the shimmer and texture of this new extra fine glitter I found! I’ve got it linked for you on my website HERE under Shop/Craft Room Favorites. I’ll teach you an easy way to apply it along with clean-up tips in today’s video.
Each diamond layer provides a sneak peek of the images behind it. The panels are the perfect size for added sentiments and smaller images.
This fun fold provides ample space on the backside for additional stamps, a personal message and your signature. So why not ‘gussy it up’!
Joy of Noel
Admittedly the Joy of Noel Bundle wasn’t one of my original Mini Catalog purchases. Wanting holly and traditional images I purchased it a few weeks ago and to my surprise, it’s quickly become one of my favorites!
The images are easy to color and the coordinating dies take all the fuss out of cutting.
The Noel die cuts each letter individually allowing you to configure the text.
The coordinating images in this stamp set work perfectly for the backside of this card as well.
Sparkling Snowflakes
When I think of the holidays I instantly think of sparkle. And this card is not short on that!
I alternated the designer paper on the steps and center diamond. However, take a closer look (below) on the other diamond images!
Those small gold flecks are not sloppy heat embossing. I created them on purpose to give the Night of Navy layer extra shimmer. Here’s how:
- I stamped the snowflake in Versamark ink and heat set the cardstock to make sure the image was dry.
- I used the Embossing Buddy over the snowflake and stamped the greeting using Versamark ink and heat set.
- Once cooled I sprinkled additional gold embossing powder on the cardstock, used small tip brush to move it around since I didn’t want to distort the words. Once satisfied, I heat set the flecks from the BACKSIDE of the cardstock so they didn’t blow off when I used the heat tool.
Doesn’t this simple technique provide added texture and elegance to the navy and gold ribbon?
This entire panel was stamped with various sizes and styles of snowflakes using Versamark ink. Gold embossing powder and gold layers make this a one-of-a-kind wintery card you’ll be proud to give.
Speaking of scrap designer paper, use those small strips on the ‘writing panel’ near the bottom or side. This little bit of paper provides the perfect coordination to the front of your card.
