I’m using Stampin’ Up! masks but you can use any stencil, with any shape or size, to create these stencil ideas. Once you’ve created your background you can add a greeting or image to finish your card making in minutes.

How to Use Stencils | Beautiful Butterflies
Double up on your stencils using layers. This card uses the typical blending background with one stencil then layered with another shape that has been heat embossed.
Stagger the image slightly and you’ll have an entirely different 3D look. Watch the video for tips and tricks on this technique.
Change up the colors and the embossing powder to create custom backgrounds! There possibilities are endless with this idea!
I ‘grounded’ the butterfly by die cutting vellum greenery. Vellum is fabulous to use with pretty backgrounds because it provides texture without covering up the background. My favorite vellum can be found HERE.
How to Use Stencils | Country Flowers
This two-step type of stenciling allows you to combine a stencil with a stamp image. Once again, the possibilites are endless.

The hexagon was easily created using the Meant to Bee Dies HERE. This two-for-one die creates both the shape and the frame with one pass in your die cutting machine. With staggering sizes, this die set is a must-have for card makers!
Tune In
If you love a whimsical background you’re going to love this stencil technique!
Simply trace the inside perimeter of your stencil and then fill it with your favorite pattern. I used the chisel/pen tip of the Stampin’ Blends markers to color in the images but you could use sponge daubers, too. Be sure to watch the video for extra tips and techniques, like the double lines you see on these images.
