The holidays are quickly approaching and if you’re like me, you’re working to complete your Christmas cards. I’m sure you’re looking for a simple card idea, yet impressive, and a card layout is the easiest way to proceed.
A card layout is also known as a card sketch. These card templates provide the basic placement and sizes for the pieces of your card allowing you to choose the colors, papers and stamps to incorporate into the design. Today’s project sheet not only includes photos and dimensions for each card but also a template/layout/sketch for each one.

Handmade Christmas Card | Traditional Labels
The Traditional Labels Bundle has been my most used greeting bundle this holiday season and for good reason. The ability to mis and match the greetings which fit perfectly inside the coordinating label dies make every card look professional.
I mixed the “Merry” with “and Bright”, die cut the label then die cut an additional label from Gold Foil which layers beautifully for this card.
The most striking feature of this Christmas card design is the split diagonal layout on the front. To enhance the festive appeal, I’ve carefully layered gold foil over the designer paper, resulting in a captivating, shimmering effect that perfectly captures the magic and elegance of the holiday season.
If you’d like to add even more sparkle, and a great use of scraps, add a square of Gold Foil behind opposite corners like I’ve done here.
Handmade Christmas Card | Peace on Earth
The Peace on Earth Bundle (stamps + coordinating dies) are a purchase you can use throughout the year. Whether creating Christmas cards, sympathy cards, get well, etc., you’ll find the greetings and dies versatile.
The block layout is simple to create with layering pieces of cardstock. Don’t worry! I’ve got all the dimensions outlined in the project sheet provided below. Along with the dimensions, the video provides tips on how to create this block/grid layout flawlessly.
I added a touch of Cloud Cover ink using a Sponge Dauber to the dove’s edges. This helps the white areas stand out, and sponging the edges of images or greetings adds great depth.
The Peaceful Garden designer paper package includes a varied number of double-sided prints which will allow you to use these papers for the holidays and beyond. Come up with your own favorite combination to make a simple card this Christmas.
Ornamental Christmas
I’ve paired the Words for the Season stamp set with the Ornament Christmas dies for the aperture card. Aperture means opening, and the shape can be whatever you’d like. Here, I’ve used a tree silhouette, but any shape and size will work.
Using text for a background is a wonderful way to create your own custom pattern paper. I used the single word “Christmas” which, teamed with “greetings” works for the overall sentiment of this card.
The Timeless Plaid Designer Paper is another favorite of ours here in the Studio because of the large array of colors and patterns that work well for cards throughout the year. This 6″ x 6″ pack of double-sided designs is one you won’t want to overlook.
Finally, don’t forget the embellishments. Each of my cards includes simple gems which add a touch of texture for a card that looks ‘pulled together’ in minutes.
