Who can resist an interactive card that delights and brings a smile to any recipient?! So today I’m sharing a DIY Snowman slider card. This snowman slider card was inspired by my team member, Meagan. I fell in love with the interaction of this card and knew my great nephew’s would love receiving it.
Meagan created her card vertically. Although I used the same Spirited Snowmen stamp set Meagan used, I opted for a different image which forced me to change the orientation of the card. Today’s card will teach you how to create the slider card in the landscape format. If you prefer to create yours vertically, you can view Meagan’s card, video and tutorial HERE.
You will find the pictures, cutting dimensions and supplies for my snowman slider card after the video in this post. This card will have your friends and family sliding into the holidays with delight!

I like the darker snowflakes. Cute card .
Hi MaryAnn! It seems the darker snowflakes are the consensus! Thanks for chiming in with your favorite. Thanks, too, for watching.
Hi Lisa, love this cute card, but I have a question regarding assembly. Since the slider layer is so fragile because of the thickness of only one layer of Cardstock at the pull tab, do you think the slider layer would still work easily if that layer was made with a mat layer behind the design thus making the design layer 1/8 or 1/4” smaller? This would give more stability when pulling the message layer out. But would the mechanism still easily work ok with a double cardstock pull out layer? Just wanting your thoughts on this. Thanks!
Hi Linda! Thanks for your question. The single layer on this card is not at all fragile. In fact, I was concerned about the thickness myself but found it very sturdy and it has held up to many repeated pulls. The problem with adding an additional layer to the designer paper is getting the cutting blade to cut through all the layers. Keep in mind you are cutting through the designer paper and then two pieces of cardstock. You can certainly try it but be sure you have a new, sharp blade to practice with. Keep me posted on your results, please. Thanks for coming by!
