Paper Scraps Herringbone Card Details

I used 1/4″ strips of designer paper for this card but anything goes. Try 1/8″ – 1/2″ and you’ll have unique patterns and designs both of which are fun and therapeutic to make!

This technique is perfect for kids, too. Cut up strips of leftover designer papers, show them how to border the original grid and let ’em go! It’s a great summertime craft project.

I didn’t have the heart to cover up the gorgeous background so I chose a simple greeting from the stamp set Massive Thanks. The Stitched Rectangle die houses this greeting perfectly and allows the patterns to remain the focal point.

• Whisper White cardstock (layer for herringbone) – 3 3/4″ x 5″

Paper Scraps Herringbone Card – Idea #2

The Playing with Patterns Designer Paper has a fun, retro feel. Unpredictable patterns and bold colors are perfect for birthday cards and much more. Just like the first card, my greetings was stamped on a simple stitched rectangle. Keeping with the retro feel, I created a handmade arrow using a scrap from this same package of designer paper.

If you haven’t given the new Stampin’ Seal+ a try, this herringbone card technique is the perfect time to experiment. Warning – there’s a learning curve! The cartridge is intended to be held more vertically than perpendicular (old dogs, new tricks…) but I’m getting the hang of it! I love the strength of this adhesive and it’s holding up superbly in our Florida humidity! 😎
